I’m glad this story is receiving so much press!

The article continues:

Burrows said that it still isn’t clear who the inspector was who deemed this little girl’s lunch was unhealthy, but that it was an agent from the Department of Health and Human Services at the state level.

It inhibits nerve transmission in the brain, calming nervous activity. As a supplement it is used as a natural tranquilizer because of it’s neurotransmitter effects.

GABA, inhibits nerve cells from firing too often and too easily. Anxiety disorders such as panic attacks, seizure disorders, and numerous other conditions including addiction, headaches, Parkinson's syndrome, and cognitive impairment are all related to low GABA activity. GABA hinders the transmission of nerve impulses from one neuron to another. It has a calming or quieting influence.

GABA is made in brain cells from glutamate, and functions as an inhibitory neurotransmitter – meaning that it blocks nerve impulses. Glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter and when bound to adjacent cells encourages them to “fire” and send a nerve impulse. GABA does the opposite and tells the adjoining cells not to “fire”, not to send an impulse.

Used regularly as a natural and gentle calming supplement by many who want to address, depression, anxiety and nervousness naturally.

In a small pan over medium heat, stir together the oil and honey. Cook and stir until blended. You could also do this in a large measuring cup in the microwave, heating for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Pour over the oat mixture, and stir to coat evenly. Spread out in an even layer on two cookie sheets.

•	Bake for 20 - 30 minutes in the preheated oven, removing occasionally to stir - until the oats and nuts are toasted. Immediately after it comes out of the oven, stir in the raisins and dried cranberries. Let stand until cooled, and stir again to break up any large clusters. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
Often people eat a meals worth of calories in one snack. Did you know that a smoothie can have 300 - 600 calories and a half a cup of almonds 400 calories? Ideally, eat 3 meals and 2 small snacks per day.
